The Iran Language Institute (ILI)
The Iran Language Institute (ILI), founded in 1925 as the Iran-America Society and restructured after the 1979 Islamic Revolution, is a state-owned, non-profit educational organization dedicated to foreign language teaching across Iran. Operating under the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, it runs hundreds of branches in dozens of cities, serving hundreds of thousands of learners each term. ILI offers instruction in multiple languages—including English, French, German, Arabic, Spanish, Italian, Russian, Chinese, and Persian for non-native speakers—through age-specific and proficiency-based programs. It also provides specialized courses for professional and academic purposes, prepares students for internationally recognized exams such as TOEFL, DELF/DALF, and Cambridge English, and maintains rigorous teacher recruitment and training standards to ensure high-quality instruction nationwide.
